Boiler Operator Trainee

The New Ulm Public Utilities Commission is currently seeking a full-time Boiler Operator Trainee for the Electric Production Department. This entry-level position is designed to provide on-the-job training in the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of power plant systems. Under the direct supervision of licensed personnel, the trainee assists with operating boilers and auxiliary equipment, performing routine boiler water testing, supporting maintenance and repair of plant equipment, and learning to follow safety and environmental regulations. The goal of this position is to prepare the trainee for promotion to a licensed Boiler Operator position upon meeting licensing and experience requirements. Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license. A State of Minnesota Special Engineer’s License is required at the time of hire. The successful candidate must obtain a Minnesota Second Class Grade “B” Engineer’s License within one year of employment and be willing to work in a physically demanding, safety-sensitive environment. Pay range is $26.06 - $33.40 per hour, depending on qualifications.
