AUGUST 21-27, U.S. Dakota War Week Commemoration
Monday August 21, Tipi Life/Buffalo Learning Trunk program with the Lower Sioux Agency. This program is
hands-on and open to all ages, BCHS Annex at 5pm.
Tuesday August 22, Lunch and a Bite of History, Author Curtis Dahlin will be presenting "More on the Dakota War", BCHS Annex at noon.
* Historian Dan Hoisington film presentation, New Ulm Public Library at 7pm.
Wednesday August 23, Lunch and a Bite of History, Independent Author and Historian John Labatte, Dakota-Settler Relations Prior to the Dakota War of 1862. BCHS Annex at noon.
* Traditional Dakota Gardening with the Lower Sioux Agency, Sleepy Eye Library at 6:30pm.
Thursday August 24, Dave Martinka, the "Dakota War in Pictures", Springfield Library at 1pm.
* Glenn Wasicuna will be presenting on "Dakota Way of Life, "New Ulm Public Library at 7pm.
Friday August 25, Lunch and a Bite of History, Corinne Marz, Three Vignettes: Remembering Clara Wilson, Susan White, and Otis White/ President Lincoln's 1861 Special Order and the 1862 Executions/ Indian Agent Charles E. Flandrau's Census and Accounting Records. BCHS Annex at noon.
* Leavenworth Rescue Bus Tour! The bus departs at 9:30am and will return approximately
3:30pm. The cost of the tour is $55 per person and includes lunch. Space is limited so

Saturday August 26, Minnesota River/Fort Ridgley Bus Tour! Learn about the river valley formation and the history

Sunday August 27, Cemetery Tour in the oldest part the New Ulm Cemetery at 2 pm. Come learn a little history
in one of the most unique cemeteries around. The tour will last approximately 1 1/2 hours.
