West Newton, the village where Alexander Harkin started his general store in the 1870's will be having a Sunday afternoon program from 1 to 4 pm about riverboats that went up and down the Minnesota River. There will be displays and information of the boats. The riverboat, West Newton, was one of the first boats up the river bringing supplies, setters. Many boats took grain back to St Paul and also brought setters and supplies. The West Newton area was a very busy until the boats stopped. Come find out WHY!!
