Leading with Cultural Competence
Bridging Brown County announces its Summer Leadership Workshop!
We will be offering a 5 hour workshop on Leading with Cultural Competence on Wednesday, July 25, 2018
People who make Minnesota’s rural communities are diversifying. Having the skills to work across difference is essential to creating thriving, welcoming places. Building these skills requires awareness, understanding and capacity for working in and communicating across cultures.
Prior to the workshop, participants will take an online assessment called the Intercultural Development In-ventory (IDI). The IDI assesses intercultural competence – the capability to shift cultural perspective and ap-propriately adapt behavior to cultural differences and commonalities.
During the workshop, participants will receive their personalized IDI profile. They will have the opportunity to review and consider their own cultural backgrounds and influences; understand different cultural styles of communication; how these styles affect their preferred approaches to decision-making and communication; and devise a personal plan using tools and techniques to increase cultural competency.
Registration fee will be $95 for the full day of training – this fee includes your morning and afternoon re-freshments, lunch, and IDI assessment. Registration deadline is July 6, 2018 so that the participants have time to complete their online assessment. This useful tool will be discussed and reviewed during the training and yours to keep for future reference.
