Invasive Species in and Around New Ulm
Invasive species have become a hot topic in the last several years. Invasive species are found here in New Ulm, including the surrounding area, and all over the U.S. In this course, we will talk about why we should all care about invasive species. You will learn about the impacts invasive species can have on humans and other plants and animals. We will also talk about some invasive plants that should be a priority for treatment. During most of this course, we will take a closer look at some invasive species found in and around the New Ulm area including zebra mussels, dame’s rocket, leafy spurge, wild parsnip, and others that have been reported in New Ulm, and the surrounding area. In the course, you will also learn about identifying some invasive species. Lastly, you will also learn how to help prevent the spread of invasive species and what invasive species could move into the area.
