Double Indemnity is a film noir directed by Billy Wilder, set in 1944.The story follows Walter Neff, an insurance salesman who becomes involved in a scheme of insurance fraud and murder with Phyliss Dietrichson. They plan to kill her husband to collect on an accident insurance policy, which includes a double indemnity clause for accidental deaths. The plan goes off without a hitch, but Walter’s colleague, claims manager Barton Keys, becomes suspicious and investigate the case. The film is based on James M. Cain’s novella and is widely regarded as a classic in the genre. Starring Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwick.
