CAST/Library Movie Matinee "Double Indemnity"
Double Indemnity is a film noir directed by Billy Wilder, set in 1944.The story follows Walter Neff, an insurance salesman who becomes involved in a scheme of insurance fraud and murder with Phyliss Dietrichson. They plan to kill her husband to collect on an accident insurance policy, which includes a double indemnity clause for accidental deaths. The plan goes off without a hitch, but Walter’s colleague, claims manager Barton Keys, becomes suspicious and investigate the case. The film is based on James M. Cain’s novella and is widely regarded as a classic in the genre. Starring Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwick. About our Movie Matinees: The CAST Senior Center is partnering with the New Ulm Public Library to bring you Movie Matinees. Held in the Meeting Room in the lower level of the New Ulm Public Library, we will present a different movie each Friday afternoon at 1pm. Our movies are free, and everyone is welcome to attend. No preregistration needed. Made possible by the Optimist Club of New Ulm. You’re welcome to bring your own refreshments. Free hearing devices compatible with the sound system are available to use.
